EPHJ 2026: Ocean™ solves high-end optical challenges for the watchmaking and jewelry industries
- Where: Geneva, Switzerland
- When: 16-19 June 2026
- Booth: R100
- 17th at 9:30AM: Predict sapphire watch glass appearance before physical prototyping
Eclat Digital is happy to announce its participation in EPHJ 2026, the leading trade show for high-precision watchmaking, jewelry, and microtechnology industries.
At the intersection of design and science, our Ocean™ optical simulation software is dedicated to predictive evaluation of appearance and optical performance before physical prototyping.
As watch designs become increasingly complex, visual validation remains a major challenge throughout the development process. Components such as sapphire glass, dials, coatings, bracelets, decorative finishes or gemstones are often evaluated independently before final assembly. However, some visual inconsistencies only become visible at late stages, once all components are integrated into the final watch.
Ocean™ enables a digital evaluation of the full assembly even before physical prototyping, avoiding additional prototyping cycles, specification adjustments, material waste and delays in validation workflows.
Predictive evaluation before prototyping
Ocean™ uses a physics-based approach to watch appearance evaluation by combining measured material data, complex geometries and physically based light interaction. Unlike conventional visualization workflows focused on approximate rendering, Ocean™ predicts the visual behavior of the assembled watch under representative lighting conditions before manufacturing.
This approach enables teams to evaluate design choices earlier in the process while maintaining consistency between design intent and final execution.
At EPHJ 2026, Eclat Digital will present several watchmaking-focused use cases demonstrating how Ocean™ can be integrated into development workflows to support both design and engineering teams.
From component-level validation to full watch assessment
Ocean™ enables system-level evaluation of the complete watch, including:
- sapphire glass,
- dials,
- cases,
- bracelets,
- surface finishes,
- gemstones and decorative elements.
By evaluating the interaction of materials, finishes and light across the entire assembly, Ocean™ enables reliable assessment of the final visual result under real-world conditions.
This shared evaluation environment also helps bridge the gap between design and engineering teams, allowing faster iteration, more reliable decision-making and improved fidelity between the intended design and the manufactured watch.

Join our talk: Wednesday 17th at 9:30 AM
As part of the exhibition program, Eclat Digital will also hold a technical presentation focused on predictive optical evaluation in watchmaking workflows.
The session will present a digital evaluation workflow using sapphire watch glass as a representative use case, considering both material properties and integration within the complete watch assembly. Different design variants (including geometry, thickness, antireflective coatings and geometry-induced optical effects such as local magnification or lensing) will be evaluated under real-world lighting conditions.
The presentation demonstrates how Ocean™ enables system-level assessment of the complete watch, from component-level definition to final assembly, helping teams anticipate late-stage visual discrepancies before physical prototyping.
