Digitalizing plastics appearance and performance with Ocean™ – Meet us at K 2025

Ocean at K 2025

Validate plastics appearance and performance with confidence

Plastics are at the heart of innovation — from product design and packaging to medical optics and display technologies. But predicting how they will look and perform before production remains a challenge. Traditional mockups are costly, time-consuming, and often fail to capture the true optical behavior of complex materials.

At K 2025, we will showcase how Ocean™, our optical simulation software, transforms the way plastics are developed by bridging material measurement, digital modeling, and predictive rendering.

From measurement to predictive rendering

At our booth, we will demonstrate a fully digitalized workflow:

  1. Material measurement – Using Xrite spectrophotometers and lightbooths, we capture the optical fingerprint of plastics (color, translucency, surface texture).
  2. Optical modeling – Ocean™ combines this spectral data with CAD and formulation software, ensuring precise, science-based material representation.
  3. Predictive rendering – Advanced ray-tracing produces physically true images and optical data for decision-making, long before the first prototype is made.

For clients who need it, we also provide dedicated measurement services. Because limited or simplified data can lead to inaccurate results, we ensure our clients receive the highest-quality input data for reliable predictive simulations.

Plastics applications we will showcase

Product Design Appearance

Sparkles, translucency, gloss, or metallic flakes — Ocean™ reproduces the finest details of plastics appearance to validate design intent early.

Virtual Prototyping for Plastics & Masterbatch

Replace costly mockups with virtual prototypes that predict both visual appearance and optical performance.

Performance Optimization

Plastics must balance transparency, reflection, and glare control. Ocean™ simulates these effects under real-world conditions to ensure readability and performance.

Optical Metrology & Surface Precision

Even microscopic surface details impact plastics appearance. Ocean™ integrates precise geometry or textures and their effects to avoid costly surprises and ensure reliable quality.

Light Transport in Plastics

From diffuse plastics in lighting to precision optics in healthcare, Ocean™ predicts how light is transmitted, absorbed, or scattered.

Eclat Digital partners with Covestro for a breakthrough automotive lighting demonstrator at K 2025

covestro_eclat-digital_automotive_demonstrator

We are proud to announce our collaboration with Covestro on their latest innovation for the automotive industry: a digital car interface demonstrator that will be unveiled at K 2025 in Düsseldorf.

This project showcases the next generation of automotive lighting interfaces, featuring effects such as black-panel switching and infinity lighting integrated directly into polycarbonate components.

Our role: Ocean™ optical simulation software was used to validate these advanced lighting effects in the digital phase — ensuring true-to-life material appearance, reducing physical prototyping, and accelerating decision-making.

Where to see it:
The demonstrator will be presented at Covestro’s booth (Hall 6, Stand A75) during K 2025.

Our team will also be present hall 12, booth A81 to discuss how optical simulation and digital prototyping can support your own lighting development projects.
